The Beauty of the Unexpected: Why I Love Monoprinting

Monoprinting has always captivated me because of its unpredictable nature. Unlike traditional printmaking, each monoprint is unique, a one-time impression that can't be exactly replicated. This sense of impermanence and surprise is what makes the process so engaging. The textures, smudges, and overlaps often become the most striking parts of the final image.

My process begins with a simple idea or composition, but as ink is rolled and pressure is applied, the outcome shifts. I find myself responding in real-time, adjusting layers, embracing accidents, and working with the unpredictable nature of the medium. It becomes a collaboration between intention and chance.

Monoprinting has taught me to release control and value spontaneity in my creative practice. It feels alive, unforced, and refreshingly honest. In a world driven by perfection, monoprinting is a gentle reminder that beauty often lies in what we don't plan for.
